Why a beauty blog?

Hey everyone out there in blogville! I have been excited lately to share many things I have been learning about makeup and the beauty industry the past year or so. Granted everything is self taught. I am a computer geek by trade, and gaming geek by night, so my knowledge of the beauty industry has always been sketchy until the last year or two. I have always worn and loved makeup. I never feel dressed without lipstick. I definitely do not leave the house without makeup. However, makeup was never a big part of my life. What changed? I am not sure. I think it started in 2013 when my neighbor/friend did my makeup for New Years Eve. I was amazed at the transformation it made. I had never contoured or highlighted or any of that. I mainly just applied the basic drugstore makeup without any brushes to speak of. Boy has that changed in nearly two years time. I already knew about Ulta because I would go there to get OPI nail enamel. However, I discovered Sephora and the MAC counter. Most important of all, I discovered Youtube. Who knew there was a whole dedicated genre devoted to makeup. I slowly filled up my subscription list and watched. The more I watched , the more I purchased and played with drugstore and high end brands, and learned about brushes and other beauty tools. Today, I am still no makeup artist. I struggle with eye looks, I still can't do a winged liner for nothing. However, I am an educated advanced consumer who knows what to look for in makeup products. When I go to the cosmetics counter or drugstore I know what looks good on me. Versus two years ago when I had no clue. I have a list of my favorite Youtube bloggers who influence my purchases. These people feel like friends. I wait for their weekly videos with anxiousness. I decided to start my own little forum to be heard in the beauty industry. While I won't rule out a Youtube channel in the future, I feel for right now a blog is perfect for me. I can share reviews, hauls, and maybe an occasional video here, plus I hope to educate those who were like me and just getting started in makeup. My plan is to educate the unknowing about makeup without overwhelming them. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a good makeup collection started. It just takes some research to know what to buy. I hope to help provide that. Check back soon, I will be sharing some reviews on products I've used up the last few months. Lots of love, Julie
